
Rules
Fido's Field is a large open space which is suitable for all sizes of dogs, with fun for all.
Our field is fully fenced with 1.8m fencing and all gates except the entrance way are locked with padlocks. Please ensure the entrance gate is shut and clipped before letting your dog off lead.
Fido's Field is located within a rural area, and we do have neighbours, but no stock or other animals will be visible during your visit. ALL visiting dogs must always be on lead outside Fido’s Field.
No glass containers are allowed at Fido’s Field please bring plastic bottles and containers only.
Smoking is not permitted anywhere on property.
- There are a great range of obstacles and challenges for dogs to enjoy. We encourage you to let your dog’s explore, treats are a great way to introduce a new challenge to your dog, not to mention the large open space great for fetch, training or simply for the zoomies.
- Except for the Wooden Gazebo and the Wooden Bench all equipment is for dogs only, humans are not allowed on any of the equipment.
- Please report any damage immediately so we can ensure safety of our visitors.
- All dogs must be always monitored, please watch your dog and enjoy your time together.
- DO NOT exit Fido’s Field and leave your dog inside, you must always stay with your dog.
- We do have neighbours so please no excessive barking.
- No digging except in designated dig spots, please ensure your dog does not dig at the base of the fence.
- We have not found a “Poo Fairy” so please clean up after your dog either bring your own bags or use the bags provided by Felix n Fido. If in the future we do need to hire a Poo Fairy this will likely result in an increase in prices, they are expensive workers!
Access and Parking
- Fido’s Field is located at 540 Mountain Road (SH3A), heading from New Plymouth to Inglewood we are on the right and approximately 500m from Manutahi Road.

- Please arrive no more than 5 minutes before your booking, please leave your dogs in your vehicle until you check the previous user has left.
- Each booking is 60 minutes this allows 10 minutes for entry and exit and 50 minutes of tail wagging fun.
- Please remain in your vehicle until the previous user has secured their dogs in their own vehicle to avoid any negative interactions between dogs.
- Access to Fido’s Field is by a shared driveway, please give way to other users and drive slowly, our gate is the first on the right, 50 metres from Mountain Road. The gate will remain closed until 10 minutes before the first booking of the day and will be closed 10
minutes after the final booking. - Please use the designated parking spaces, you will see the signs, Fido’s Field is on your right just after the shed. (Please watch the Fido’s Field video for details coming soon)
- All dogs must remain on lead outside Fido’s Field, do not let your dog off lead until you have closed the access gate behind you, and you are comfortable nobody else remains in the field.
- Fido’s Field – safe, secure off lead fun for you and your dog.
- Please be respectful to everyone you meet, we will not tolerate abuse or inconsiderate behaviour, you will be told to leave.
Fido’s Field – Dog Requirements
- All dogs must be managed in compliance with the Dog Control Act and NPDC Bylaws.
- All dogs must be over 4 months of age.
- All dogs must be fully vaccinated
(including Kennel Cough). We may request proof of vaccination at any time and decline a booking if proof is not supplied. - Do not bring any dogs to Fido’s Field which are unwell. If your dog shows signs of illness leave Fido’s Field immediately and seek veterinarian assistance.
- Depending on booking type no more than 3 or 6 dogs are permitted to enter in any one session. (1-3 dogs or 4-6 dogs)
- All dogs must always be ON LEAD when outside of Fido’s Field, this is any time they are outside your vehicle.
- NO EXCEPTIONS any owner not following these
rules will not be allowed to book again.
Owner Requirements
- Do not leave your dogs unattended at any time. A maximum of 3 or 6 dogs (depending on booking type) and 2 vehicles are permitted for any booking.
- You must be over 16 years of age to make a booking. Parents must always supervise all children.
- You must follow all instructions on the signs/placards.
- Pick up all poo without exception. Please bring poo bags with you and take all poo bags with you when you leave. We will supply poo bags in a dispenser on the gazebo.
Water/Power/Facilities
- Drinking water is supplied on the gazebo, this is topped up automatically as it is used.
- Cell phone coverage is generally good but we are in a rural area so there may be patches of minimal coverage.
- There are no power, electric car charging or toilet facilities at Fido’s Field.
- Free Wi-Fi is provided please log onto Fidos Field and the password is fidosfield
Hazard Information
Please be aware of the following hazards when visiting Fido’s Field:
- Mountain Road is a 100km/hr. zone - the road can be very busy.
- Parking areas may be an uneven surface.
- There may be other vehicles moving around the driveway area - be aware.
- Exercise area is a flat field but there may be areas of uneven ground. In wet weather the grass may be muddy or slippery.
- The equipment is made as safely as possible but does pose risks for dogs/owners. There are trip hazards, fall hazards and crush hazards.
- Please be careful - especially in wet weather.
- Trees surround the perimeter of Fido’s Field - there may be risks of branches falling and risks if dogs should consume plant matter.
- The fencing and sheds have joins and ends secured on the posts. We aim to make the fencing as safe as possible but there is risk of cuts/scrapes from the fencing / shed material.
- Dogs will run at speed and be very exuberant during free running exercise. There is risk that they will slip or fall during these periods of excitement.
- The owners of Fido’s Field have made all efforts to make patrons aware of potential hazards and accept no responsibility for injury.
